I was reflecting this morning about life and its journey. It is amazing while we are young that there are so many dreams in our hearts of the many jobs we might like to have or places we would like to travel. I know officially have done my job of getting my children through high school, but the hard part comes in encouraging each one to find his place in this world. Find what you like to do because you will never work a day in your life. Well, that is easier said than done. I was fortunate enough that I did do what I loved. I LOVED being a mom. And though that does not stop for me I will always be a mom but my role is different now and all of a sudden I am in the same shoes as my children looking for a new identity to impact and influence my world. As a parent all these years it is amazing how much I am like my mother. I enjoyed and encouraging my children and with each phase I understand my mom better. It is amazing how smart are parents are when we grow up, :). So back to my original thought: my children are looking for their identity; I am looking for my identity now that I am no longer a mom of children in a home. And then it hit me, my mom was also searching for her new identity. Recently widowed, my mom is in search of who she is without my dad here on earth. Strange, yes. We walk this earth in search of who we are and the search is continuous. It is in the journey that we must find peace and the ability to influence others and more importantly ourselves. That is not to say that we do not have struggles and obstacles along the way, we do, but it is through life that we find our purpose.
