I have always said that you should not pray for patience. Only pray for patience if you want tests for patience. So what should you pray for. Ask Solomon. You should pray for wisdom. Wisdom to know what to do, who to lean on, where to go. Wisdom is the answer. If you ask, God will give. So wisdom and clarity are my usual prayer requests. Nice right.
OK, so what do I do with the anger, frustration, and hurt. I begged for it to go away for that I would have clarity. You cannot make wise decisions without clarity and you cannot have clarity if you are always angry, mean, mad, and moody.
Having those feelings are not wrong. They are part of life. It is what you do with those feelings and how you handle them that makes a difference. It all comes down to choices. You are ultimately responsible for your own actions.
The biggest key to understanding if you made a mistake and are learning from it comes in repenting. Did you feel remorse? Are you sorry for what you did? Have you apologized to the right people?
Making mistakes is human. How we handle our mistakes is our character. Own up to your responsibility. Be a man of integrity, honesty, and self respect.
Do What's Right - Be Your Best - with God's help!!!!
When life throws you a LEMON, make some lemonade...
Wow, that is really hard to do sometimes isn't it!!!
Here is a profound lesson I have learned this week. I am sure I will have more to come because learning to walk by faith iss hard.
Walk by faith, hmmm, trusting God when you cant see where you are going or when someone has thrown blinders on you. Yes, walking by faith... People who are driven by faith know what it takes: Asking just for wisdom and clarity!!!
My first pearl of wisdom:
We are all alone in this together, together we are each alone.
I said that at my father's funeral when I realized how differently each of my children mourned the loss of their grandfather.
Here we were all together but alone each one of us processes through life's ups and down differently.
Here is the lesson I learned from Opa, my father. Daddy told us to mourn but one when he was gone and then go on and honor God every day.. He knew his time here on earth was short and he was still responsible for preparing us for what was to come. Reflecting on his first year away from us I have felt like I was failing becaasue I did not know how to do that every day. Of course, the truth is it is in our daily living that we honor God.
As a family we mourned for more than one day. We celebrated his life and enjoyed recounting the many memories of friends and family.
Now I too have something to mourn even if it isn't a person. Yes, I have a major change in my life. 27 years of being married and my life is turned upside down. My husband wants a divorce. Not going into the details of the situation, life has thrown me a lemon and now I am supposed to make lemonade.
The best advice everyone gave my mother as a new widow is to not make any drastic changes your first year alone. So, in my mourning the loss of a family, I too wont make drastic changes in the first year.
Know that God is in control, have peace, and beg for clarity and wisdom...
I will explain that in my next pearl of wisdom....
Blessings to each of you,
Vilma - Do What's Right - Be Your Best - with God's help.
I was reflecting this morning about life and its journey. It is amazing while we are young that there are so many dreams in our hearts of the many jobs we might like to have or places we would like to travel. I know officially have done my job of getting my children through high school, but the hard part comes in encouraging each one to find his place in this world.
Find what you like to do because you will never work a day in your life. Well, that is easier said than done. I was fortunate enough that I did do what I loved. I LOVED being a mom. And though that does not stop for me I will always be a mom but my role is different now and all of a sudden I am in the same shoes as my children looking for a new identity to impact and influence my world.
As a parent all these years it is amazing how much I am like my mother. I enjoyed and encouraging my children and with each phase I understand my mom better. It is amazing how smart are parents are when we grow up, :).
So back to my original thought: my children are looking for their identity; I am looking for my identity now that I am no longer a mom of children in a home. And then it hit me, my mom was also searching for her new identity. Recently widowed, my mom is in search of who she is without my dad here on earth. Strange, yes.
We walk this earth in search of who we are and the search is continuous. It is in the journey that we must find peace and the ability to influence others and more importantly ourselves. That is not to say that we do not have struggles and obstacles along the way, we do, but it is through life that we find our purpose.

So much is changing, help I cannot keep up. Do you ever feel that way? Technology is moving faster than I know how to keep up. Days are flying by faster each and every year, my parents always told me that & now I tell my children the same, :).
How to be a better marketer, how to be a better business person, how to be better... you name it. Sharing our process of becoming out best is really what we are meant to do only how? LOL...
All I know is that I am bringing back an old favorite, our Saturday morning motivations. The best we can be is not to improve the whole world, but our own little world. What disciplines do you need to make life easier, less complicated, & better supported? Come join us on a weekly call as we share our little tips. Topics will vary each week from being disciplined to improving communication, tools that make us efficient. :).
Let us know areas of your life you would like to be better supported in and we will make an effort to impact you.
When are these new and exciting calls? They will begin every Saturday morning starting in October!!! A great way to kick off the fall season.
Look for the call in number to come! Invite a friend to join you
My new favorite person is Brendon Burchard. He is the author of the book, "The Charge", www.thecharge.com. It is free if you just pay for shipping. He offers three videos worth watching!!! I appreciate being challenged and then having a practical way to apply what I have learned. I copied his PDF of the 6 questions we need to ask ourselves every day. He challenged us to make videos to share with you all on impacting others and making a difference.
I have decided to begin with a video on just being ORDINARY. I will share the path on finding ways to be excellent at being just Ordinary. Watch the video below that was inspired by my sister Viv Beck and Brendon Burchard, perhaps this will somehow impact and inspire you.
It was in 2005 and I just read "The Path" by Laurie Beth Jones, and I have defined my mission by going through her book. I did not do this alone, I was mentoring women on a weekly teleconference and we each spent several weeks defining our personal missions. Here is my joy!!! I still like that purpose and now I have found a vehicle with which to pursue it. Here it is. My mission is to help others discover, empower, master becoming the best you be through honesty, integrity, and commitment in all I do.
One of the leaders in ViSalus, the #1 weight loss platform, said it best. Johnna Parr said, "It is best to first start with yourself and do not let yourself down." So with that, I am sharing that I want to discover and empower and master myself so that I can make a difference in others.
I begin with defining who I am. This was inspired because I stepped out of my comfort zone and joined a Toast Master Group so that I can gain confidence and competence in my speaking and communications. The video link below is my first presentation: an introduction of who I am... :)
So everything we do in life comes down to a decision!!! There is a fork in the road do you turn left or right? It doesn't matter except that you should respond rather than react. Reaction leads to frustration and conflict while when you respond you have had an opportunity to overcome obstacles that lay ahead.
My fork in the road? Well ViSalus had a great Vitality weekend. Do it or don't do it. A 19 year old young man said, "Well why wouldn't I. I have always been into fitness (I'm thinking your only 19 and he is smiling and happy) and it cuts fat, builds muscle, and it works. Yeah sure I am doing this!" Life is easy. When you make the decision to do it, go forward with a joy in your step and enjoy.
Vitality in Orlando, Florida was terrific. Thanks Blake Mallen, Nick Sarnicola, & Ryan Blair...
My fork in the road. To have or not to have a challenge party... Really? Just go do it...
Wow so my mother and my sister and I were on a thinking session today. I was reminding them that EVERYTHING in life comes down to making a decision. Back when I struggled a little in my marriage, I know that may not have happened to any of you, but I was told that Love is a choice. Love is a choice, but it is a choice to get up and decide to be happy. Mama always told me if I woke up cranky to get back in bed and climb out of the other side of bed. It was a choice to make a change, :). Sometimes we make little changes that we are not necessarily aware of. for example, after I got married I did not make it back into the gym. It did not really effect me for a few years and then some 20 plus years later I am not sure how I was the biggest I had ever been, ugh. So much for my belly fat... I was just bigger and much encourage for many reasons for my weight gain: getting older, hormones, babies, slow metabolism... All of these were acceptable... BUT what about my choices!!! My choices to no longer go to the gym, or my choice to increase my food intake, or my choices to drink more sugar, and what about my chocolate, :). It is all about a DECISION. This year I made the decision to not be fat, frumpy, and fifty... I chose fit, fabulous, and fifty. It took more than 21 days to make my choices a good habit. It took almost 4 months but now the activities I have chosen have made a positive impact, pounds and inches gone... Visit www.AOWeightLoss.com for the updates, my 90 day challenge is almost done... So it is a decision to be Happy, it is a decision to get up and to what we must, it is a choice to be respectful. What do you want for yourself: to lose weight, to go to school, to find a new job, to run a marathon. Make it your decision to BE YOUR BEST!!! Make it a blessed day.
